Gambling news roundup: California candidate for governor bets on himself at Kalshi; the latest on Penn vs. HG Vora drama; VGW leaving New York; BetMGM gets Missouri partner.
Understood. I think the fastest way to lose your subs would be to write about RG every day. As I mentioned, I am a newer follower and for me, RG and growth of mobile/online gambling belong together forever. Tonight I will catch up with some of your work.
I am a fan but how do you literally discuss how you and FanDuel want to bring more attention to RG - then do an article about the rapid expansion and overall market growth being led by online gaming and never once even mention addiction? Would have been puzzling without the lead-in. I don’t know how one can be discussed without the other. You brought up cannibalization but not RG or addiction. Do you disagree?
Hi Dan, I write about RG quite a bit, either through the main topic or through sharing stuff around RG. I am not going to write about it every single time I write about gambling, which is literally every day. If you don’t like that I don’t mention it here, this was just a narrowly written piece about the economics of the industry and the topic of online adoption. If I insert RG into every piece (i easily could), that’s going to get tiresome for everyone.
RG is an ongoing discussion in my newsletter and everywhere. I routinely advocate for funding and policy on RG in my newsletter. Guessing I could find dozens of examples.
If you don’t like that I don’t mention it here, I am sorry that disappoints you.
Very fair. Thanks for taking the time. I am really busy trying to launch my business and should have done more research before I sent that to you. I appreciate you clearing it up for me and thank you for advocating for RG.
If I was parachuting in and writing about the growth of gambling in a vacuum, I think it would be a fair criticism. But this is all i write about. Sometimes I just write about RG. I don’t think of my newsletter as a bunch of one-offs. It’s something people read somewhat regularly and it’s a body of work I think about in sum.

If we wanna throw crypto in a different bucket, maybe? And I'll bet the over on more things added to this list in the next 5-10 years.
Maybe the whole country will legalize and the list will shrink?! Sure

I included this piece on Friday’s newsletter for instance and added that increased funding and policymaking would be good. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/america-s-sports-betting-boom-is-about-to-backfire/ar-AA1FkuYK?ocid=finance-verthp-feeds
